…and the gunslinger followed

The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed.  ~The Dark Tower Series, Stephen King

Of all the books and adaptations of magic and westerns and even to the Tolkien Lord of the Rings series, the biggest inspiration for The Adventures of Black Mask & Pale Rider (and the forth coming Elves of the Old West) was the Dark Tower Series.  It matches the mix of six gun and sorcery that I wanted for a pair of female elves who crossed the American frontier.

Usually, when we think of a place that holds magic and mystery, it’s some place like Middle Earth, or the world Childe Roland grew up in, or Asgard.  But in the Elves of the Old West, the point of view is from two elven gunslingers (which will eventually become four).  The world we know is their alien world.  We see through their eyes.  The world of humans is the world that is odd, different, strange, and sometimes very hostile.

Even though I’m rewriting the Adventures of Black Mask & Pale Rider, the book is still available to purchase.
